GROWING GINSENG IN THE FOREST:
(9) Shade

by Hsuan H. Huang

  1. Natural shade can be the hardest aspect of ginseng growing to control. The death of a key shade tree can causes huge gaps, allowing direct sunlight to strike the beds.

  2. As mentioned before, no areas of ginseng garden should receive more than 15 minutes of direct sunlight continuously. Artificially patching up the shade is ok, but usually it is too much work for too little results, besides the water drip lines will eventually kill the plant. So don't cut the large tree roots.
